MARCH NEWSLETTER

Dear Ladies
So many topics to cover this month such as Spring, Clovers~i dare you to find one now underneath the growing moss fresh from the melting snow, burning grass as is typical of Hazelton, seeds, planning for the summer and Easter.
We have covered some words in the short time since this year has begun ~ as Joy, Love and Peace and this month I think of Mercy ~~

A Real Relationship with God

by Joyce Meyer
When you think of religion, what comes to your mind—a set of rules, regulations and obligations or a deep, intimate relationship with God?
I like to consider myself someone who has a personal relationship with God through Jesus Christ. I believe He died so we could have a living, vital relationship with God, not just a bunch of rules and regulations we're forced to follow.
Yes, there are certain guidelines God wants us to follow, but His purpose in giving them is to protect us from the consequences of sin.
When we have a real relationship with God through Christ, life gets exciting because He stirs up a passion inside us to love people—and we don't have to struggle to do the things He calls us to do. It just happens naturally.

God Is Not Mad at You

If there's one thing people need to hear over and over again, it's this: God loves you. That's all there is to it. He may not like everything you do, but He's never going to stop loving you.
God is not impressed with your works at all. What He cares about is your heart.
I believe the greatest thing God wants to hear from us is, "I love You, Lord. Thank You for everything You've done in my life. I want to do what's right. Keep teaching me."
Many of us don't pray and ask God for what we need because we don't think we have a right to ask. But the Bible says God wants us to learn how to receive His mercy.

Hebrews 4:15 says we have a High Priest, a perfect Savior, who understands our weaknesses. He's been tempted just like we are, yet He never sinned.
Verse 16 says we can come fearlessly and confidently before God in prayer to receive His mercy and be forgiven.

Recipe:
Let me share with you one that i tried this weekend, it is

Lemon Cookies
12 tbsp butter
2 eggs, divided
1 tbsp lemon zest
2 cups almond flour or finely ground almonds
½ cup superfine sugar
1 ¼ cup flour
1 tbsp lemon juice
4 whole lemons cut into very small slices
powdered sugar for sprinkling

  1. beat butter with one egg
  2. add almond flour sugar, flour zest and juice
  3. shape dough into two logs, refrigerate for three hours
  4. preheat oven to 350 F
  5. slice each log into cookies 1/8 thick, place on greased cookie sheet
  6. beat second egg brush each cookie
  7. Place one lemon slice on top
  8. sprinkle with sugar and bake for 12-15 minutes
  9. because i only looked at the picture i candied the lemon slices first in 1 cup water and 2 cups sugar and let it sit for two days and dried for a few hours. Also the 2 eggs went in the dough which made the dough softer but still turned out ok. You might want to cut the lemon slices up first perhaps as they are a bit hard to eat. But made a really nice melt in your mouth cookie!!

Craft
this is something small that my granddaughter and I did together, we made a picture out of it, we decorated several and hung it on a string clothesline in a frame, but you could decorate the one attached here and use it for a bag clasp. They always come in useful. Simple glue your favorite lace or material on the front. Trim with scissors or Xacto knife. Place a button or something decorative on the top if you wish. Paint the rest and there! you have a fancy clothespin!
IN YOUR MAILBOX YOU WILL FIND A CLOTHESPIN ATTACHED TO YOUR NEWLETTER!!

God bless you and may you Celebrate Christ this month Bev Astleford

FEBRUARY NEWSLETTER

Dear Ladies
Yes! At Valentines we hear a waltz and seek out a slipper moon, and make wishes that we keep close to our hearts. We gaze at bouquets of red roses wrapped in white paper with luscious red ribbons. Perhaps at a tea shop we sip a cup of chocolate and dream of happiness and love and joy. We think of weddings, friendships whether family or neighbour, perhaps (grand)children that have come to us. How our eyes shine when we hear a favorite song too.
This Valentine day, whether you are at home or out for a special dinner here are two words to keep in your heart Joy and Love.

Romans 15:13...Now the God of Hope fill you with all Joy and Peace in believing, that you may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Ghost.

Make a list of your favorite things:
These are mine: do they match!!!?
yellow material with red roses
pictures with yellow roses
tea pot with red antique roses
red hat with a rose and fancy shoes
needlework pillow with faded flowers that are more pink
or wall paper that shimmers with pink roses, its time to take it down but don't really want to because it is roses

There are myriad more things to put down!

craft for February to hang underneath your Peace sign or above your headboard, or anywhere...apologies for the upside down pic will have to see if i can remedy that!

A WEDDING PRAYER

Would you take these two,
of dust and bone,
Born of flesh, then you,
Would you make them one?
Would you speak again
The words you spoke
When Adam slept
And Eve awoke?
Would you let your wine
Replace our water.
And look with grace
On this son, this daughter?
Oh Lord of Eden
In your majesty
Create again
Your tapestry
One heart
Where there were two.
This is the prayer
We lift to you.

JANUARY NEWSLETTER

Hazelton Women's Ministry

HAPPY NEW YEAR 2016 ladies of Hazelton!!

I am getting a late start I know!  I am working quickly to get this out to you.   My excuse is I live out of town for the winter and my printer is at the other house.
I am going to try and get a newsletter out to you once a month~~  Do you remember years ago the newsletters where I have done the same thing with tidbits and recipes etc?  The same thing will be done will be done for this year.  Twelve of them and they will come out the first of the month.  You can  like us on Facebook which is Hazelton SDA Womens Ministry  and also on a blog which you can bookmark!

For the beginning of this year a theme that has begun in my mind is PEACE. Each one of us want a certain amount of peace in each day amid a little bit of excitement and sometimes confusion in our eventful lives. The peace that God gives us is most valuable of all. The peace that we have done all we could to make even one moment of someones day more pleasant.
Its like eating a truffle....the taste lingers for a long time and you reach out for one more!!!

so there are three things i am going to give you today, hopefully you will do them, it will linger for the whole month.

Remember this verse: John 14:27 King James Version (KJV)

Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

Make the craft...you know i love crafts!!! get three pieces of old 2x1s or similar, something that is old and worn!!!, smaller strips to nail or drill them together on the back, a drill to make small holes on the top board in each corner , a piece of pretty ribbon to put in the holes to hang your project. Now all you need to do is paint your project with any color you like. Get a sponge dip in the paint and smear lightly across. Use a second color to smear across again in different angles. Let dry and get white paint to stencil the words peace across. There! you have a wall hanging
if boards are not available you can use paper cardboard to make your hanging also.

Here are a truffle recipe I have tried, totally healthy of course!!
 Ingredients

TRUFFLES

1 cup raw pecans
1 cup raw walnuts
1 Tbsp cacao powder or unsweetened cocoa powder
1/4 tsp sea salt
1/2 tsp ground cinnamon (optional)
10 medjool dates, pitted (if dried out, soak in warm water for 10 minutes then drain)
1 1/4 cups dairy free dark chocolate (real chocolate bar, not chips), roughly chopped
1 tsp coconut oil
FOR TOPPING
1/4 cup cacao nibs, crushed pecans/walnuts, and/or sea salt for topping
Instructions
Place pecans and walnuts in a food processor or high speed blender and process until it reaches the consistency of a meal. Remove and set aside in a dish.
Next, place pitted dates in the food processor and process until small bits remain and/or it forms into a ball.
Then add in the cocoa powder and 1/2 of the nut meal and pulse. Continue pulsing and adding the nut meal a little at a time until a loose dough is formed. You may not need to use all of the nuts, which is fine because you can use any leftovers for topping the truffles.
Once you have a dough that's easy to form into balls, scoop out 1 Tablespoon amounts and roll/carefully form into balls. (If they aren't quite forming, hold in your palm and let the heat of your hand warm them, then gently shape into a loose ball.) Set on parchment paper and place in freezer to chill - you should have about 14 truffles.
In the meantime melt chocolate in a double boiler or in the microwave in 30 second increments. Be careful not to overheat. Once melted, stir in coconut oil to help the chocolate thin and ease the dipping process.
Remove truffles from freezer and, one at a time, dip them into the melted chocolate. Use a fork to remove them and tap away excess chocolate. Transfer back onto parchment paper and top with sea salt, crushed pecans, or cacao nibs.
Repeat until all truffles are dipped. Let set at room temperature. Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature. Transfer to freezer for longer term storage.

May I wish you a HAPPY, PROSPEROUS AND PEACEFUL (at least in your heart), NEW YEAR
