June Newsletter 2016~ dedicated to the men of our church

" Two people meet while walking down the street. Each person has just one dollar in their pocket. After visiting, the two people exchange the dollar and continue on their way. They walk away with one dollar in their pocket. Across the street, two people meet while walking down the street. Each person exchanges an idea. Now those two people walk away with two ideas. Which side of the street would you like to walk on?"

Well i dare say the men of our church have lots of exchanging going on because they are always on the go helping here and there, getting things done in the home and their surroundings. Each man has an intrinsic goal to protect and lead out in his family and religious affairs, from that we have a very beginning to which i would like to lead you into the next few passages of

high and Lifted Up

You Are High and Lifted Up

There is no glory in my own wisdom.
There is no power in my own strength.
There is no might in my own riches.
But I will boast of knowing you.

For you are high and lifted up,
The glory of the nations.
You are high and lifted up,
The Lord of all the earth.
You are high and lifted up,
Creator,
Redeemer,
And I will boast of knowing you.
 Verse for the month

Isaiah 57:15-17

He says, “I live in a high and holy place,
but I also live with people who are humble and sorry for their sins.
I will give new life to those who are humble in spirit.

Dedication~

dedication Meaning in the Cambridge English Dictionary

dictionary.cambridge.org/dictionary/english/dedication
dedication meaning, definition, what is dedication: the willingness to give a lot of time and energy to something because it is important:

“God, the God I love and worship, reigns in sorrow on the Tree,
Broken, bleeding, but unconquered, very God of God to me.
All that showy pomp of splendor, all that sheen of angel wings,
Was but borrowed from the baubles that surround our earthly kings.
Thought is weak and speech is weaker, and the vision that He sees
Strikes with dumbness any preacher, brings him humbly to his knees.
But the word that Thou hast spoken borrows nought from kings and thrones,
Vain to rack a royal palace for the echo of Thy tones.
In a manger, in a cottage, in an honest workman’s shed,
In the homes of humble peasants, and the simple lives they led,
In the life of one an outcast and a vagabond on earth,
In the common things He valued, and proclaimed of priceless worth,
And above all in the horror of the cruel death He died,
Thou hast bid us seek Thy glory, in a criminal crucified.
And we find it – for Thy glory is the glory of Love’s loss,
And Thou hast no other splendor but the splendor of the Cross.
For in Christ I see the martyrs and the beauty of their pain,
And in Him I hear the promise that my dead shall rise again.
High and lifted up, I see Him on the eternal Calvary,
And two piercèd hands are stretching east and west o’er land and sea.
On my knees I fall and worship that great Cross that shines above,
For the very God of Heaven is not Power, but Power of Love.”

Prep time               Cook time       Total time
                                      40 mins                     8 min             48 min

Traditional regional herbs and spices flavor this Greek bean burger so you’ll feel like you’re eating on the Mediterranean with the explosion of flavor in each bite. Vegan, gluten free, and a meat-free protein too!

Serves: 4-5

Ingredients
1 flax “egg” (1 tablespoon ground flax seeds mixed with 3 tablespoons water)
1 15oz can white cannelloni beans
½ cup [packed] zucchini, shredded
¼ cup red onion, finely chopped
½ cup quick oats
4 kalimata olives, chopped
1 tablespoon sun dried tomatoes, chopped
1 ½ tablespoon dill, chopped
1 tablespoon parsley, chopped
¼ teaspoon dried oregano
⅛ teaspoon garlic powder
Red chili flakes, to taste (optional)
Freshly ground black pepper (I used 8 turns)
Salt, to taste
Extra virgin olive oil or nonstick spray for cooking
Optional: ¼ cup feta cheese

Directions
In a small dish combine ground flax seeds and water. Mix and set aside for at least 10 to 15 minutes.
In a medium bowl, mash beans with a fork. Then add the remainder of the ingredients and mix well. Add flax egg and continue to combine.
Cover bowl with saran wrap and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes, up to 4 hours to allow the mixture to set and flavors to meld.
Once time has elapsed, remove from the refrigerator and form into [about 4] patties.
Heat oil-coated skillet over medium-high heat. Once skillet is hot (this is important!), cook patties for 4 minutes on each side, carefully flipping, until a golden crust forms. Serve immediately with hummus and/or tzaziki over salad or stuffed in a whole grain pita.
Leftovers can stay refrigerated for up to 5 days.
